Disappointing Day for India at Paris Olympics 2024: Missed Opportunities and Glimmers of Hope

The third day of the Paris Olympics 2024 was a mixed bag for India, with more disappointments than triumphs. The shooting range, where India had high hopes, proved to be a letdown, while the archery team's quarterfinal loss added to the woes. However, there were some silver linings, with the air pistol mixed team and Lakshya Sen's win in badminton providing some consolation.

Shooting: Ramita and Arjun Babuta Fall Short

In the women's 10m air rifle final, Ramita's campaign ended in heartbreak as she finished seventh, failing to secure a medal. The 22-year-old, who had shown promise in the qualification rounds, couldn't replicate her form when it mattered most. Later, Arjun Babuta's impressive run in the men's 10m air rifle event was halted in the final, where he finished fourth, agonizingly close to a medal.

Archery: Men's Team Bows Out

The men's archery team, comprising Dhiraj Bommadevara, Pravin Jadav Ramesh, and Tarundeep Rai, suffered a quarterfinal defeat at the hands of Turkey. The team, which had shown promise in the ranking rounds, couldn't find its rhythm against the Turkish trio, losing 2-6.

Air Pistol Mixed Team: Glimmer of Hope

In a much-needed boost, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh qualified for the bronze medal match in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The duo, which had struggled in the individual events, found their groove in the team competition, finishing third in the qualification round. They will face South Korea in the bronze medal match, with a chance to redeem India's shooting campaign.

Hockey: India Held by Argentina

In the men's hockey competition, India was held to a 1-1 draw by Argentina. The team, which had started the tournament with a win, failed to capitalize on its dominance, settling for a point.

Badminton: Lakshya Sen Shines

In a bright spot for India, Lakshya Sen won his men's singles match against Belgium's Julien Carraggi, keeping his hopes alive in the competition.

As the Paris Olympics 2024 enters its fourth day, India will look to bounce back from the disappointments of Day 3. With several events still to come, the contingent will aim to make a mark and bring home some much-needed medals.
